Computers for Schools Foundation: COMPUTERS FOR SCHOOLS
The Repair Process
An inmate inspects a donated hard drive Donated equipment is refurbished before being given to schools. The vocational training provides a "double benefit" from computers destined for K-12 classrooms.

Computers are repaired by students in vocational computer repair classes in participating correctional facilities, community colleges, vocational centers, high schools and school districts.

According to several surveys and studies, data processing equipment repair is one of the fastest growing occupations in the country and will be for at least the next 5 years. Donated computers make it possible to provide repair training that is the best hope for many people seeking productive, marketable employment.

Computers for Schools Foundation's repair process maximizes the number of quality computers and ensures that only complete and working systems are distributed to schools.

Computers are loaded with various software programs, including Windows '95 where applicable. They are ready for word processing, vocabulary drills and other applications. Completed systems are then donated to recipient schools. A correctional facility repair center
